On November 4, 2025, Tsai, Lee & Chen celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand International IP Seminar held at the Humble House Taipei Hotel. The event brought together nearly 200 distinguished guests, including domestic enterprises representatives and international IP professionals from around the world.
The seminar commenced with welcoming remarks by Managing Partner Dr. Augustus C. P. Chin, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to all attendees and recounted the founding journey of the firm. He encouraged the team to remain united and continue pursuing innovation and excellence in the years ahead.
The event was honored to feature Director General, Dr. Cheng-Wei Liao of the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) as keynote speaker. In his address titled “Taiwan IP Policy Development and Outlook,” Director General Liao presented a comprehensive analysis of Taiwan’s IP landscape, supported by rich data and detailed policy updates. His insights underscored Taiwan’s strong commitment to fostering innovation and protecting intellectual achievements, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Secretary General Mr. Jang-Hwa Lew of the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) followed with an inspiring speech that combined professional insight and strategic vision, providing valuable perspectives on the industrial sector’s role in IP advancement.
From the academia, Professor Su-Hua Lee of National Taiwan University’s College of Law delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Recent Trends and Developments on Intellectual Property Law in Taiwan.” Her remarks, rich in both expertise and foresight, resonated deeply with participants.
Representing the corporate sector, Dr. Spencer Yu, Senior Director of the Intellectual Asset Office at AUO Corporation, shared his topic “AUO’s IP Strategy in a Changing Global Landscape.” Drawing on extensive experience, Dr. Yu offered profound insights into corporate IP management, combining strategic perspective with practical know-how.
Mr. Henry Chiu, Division Director of the IP Division at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), presented “License on Transfer (LOT): A Smarter Way to Prevent NPE Threats.” His engaging and accessible explanation provided attendees with a clearer understanding of LOT mechanisms, earning widespread praise for both clarity and depth.
In the afternoon, 24 international patent and trademark experts from world’s leading IP firms across Japan, Southeast Asia, Korea, the EU, the United States, Canada, and Africa each delivered focused 20-minute presentations in the Breakout Forum. They explored current IP trends, practical litigation issues, and strategic approaches to global IP protection. The discussions between speakers and participants fostered a dynamic atmosphere of idea exchange and collaboration. Concurrent Roundtable Discussion provided additional opportunities for in-depth and enthusiastic interaction on the cutting-edge IP issues between local attendees and international experts.
The event concluded with a welcome cocktail reception and gala dinner with international guests, providing a warm and celebratory close to a day filled with professional exchange and meaningful connection.
